Bayside, situated in the St. Margaret's Bay/Peggy's Cove region of the Lighthouse Route, is a part of Halifax County. Bayside is only 29.3 km (18.2 mi.) southwest of Halifax, placed on the shores of Blind Bay. It's been said that Blind Bay got its name from the excessive amount of fog in the Harbour that blinded the fishermen from seeing anything in the near distance. Of course, Bayside was named after the simple fact that it's on a bay. The Mi'kmaq once lived in the Bayside area, but then settlers came to Bayside in 1764, after receiving a grant.

Bayside is a prospering golf community, as both residents and tourist flock to the local Granite Springs Golf Club for a world-class golfing experience. The Granite Springs Golf Club is a finely groomed course that consists of beautifully tree-lined fairways and glorious waterways (26 spring fed ponds). The clubhouse has a classy dining room and offers various golfing amenities. Granite Springs Golf Club is an 18-hole, 200-acre course as well.

Bayside accommodations include bed and breakfasts.
