Blomidon is a small village located in Kings County, looking out to the Minas Basin. The land where Blomidon now rests was once called Owbogegechk by the Mi'kmaq, which means "abounding with dogwood." Blomidon has also been called Cape Poutrincourt, Cape Porcupine and Cap Baptiste. Blomidon was settled in the late 1700s, by New England Planters. Agriculture and fishing are two of the more prominent industries in Blomidon. Halifax is positioned on the opposing coastline, 113 km (70.2 mi.) to the south of Blomidon

Blomidon is proud to be the home of the Blomidon Provincial Park, which includes glorious scenery, some of the world's biggest tides, towering cliffs, secluded beaches, swimming, beachcombing, rock collecting, kayaking, canoeing, lots of wildlife, beautifully maintained hiking and walking trails (all with varying difficulty and length) an interpretive trail, a waterfall and more. Blomidon is also near Wolfville, on Highway 101, which features excellent seafood, heritage buildings and history.
