Boylston is a small community located in Guysborough County, on Marine Drive (Highway 16) near Guysborough Harbour on Nova Scotia's eastern shores. Boylston was initially granted to Benjamin Hallowell in 1765, but Hallowell decided to dedicate the title of the land to his brother-in-law, Nicholas Boylston. Loyalists came to Boylston in 1786 from New England, as settlement officially got underway. In the 19th century, Boylston would lose three churches, two by fire and one from strong winds. Main industries in Boylston are agriculture and fishing. Boylston is positioned 266 km (165.3 mi.) to the east of Nova Scotia's capital, Halifax.

Boylston is home to the Boylston Provincial Park, which looks out to the picturesque Guysborough Harbour. This provincial park boasts excellent picnic areas and the enticing tale of Zeno Narrative, which depicts the 1398 voyage of Henry Sinclair. Boylston is also close in proximity to the Port Shoreham Beach Provincial Park, the Canso Museum, the Grassy Island National Historic Site and the Old Court House Museum.

Boylston accommodations include campgrounds.
