Falmouth is a member of Hants County, located on the western shores of the scenic Avon River. Acadian settlers arrived in Falmouth in the 1700s, as the town name honours Admiral Boscawan, the First Viscount Falmouth. In 1761, the land of Falmouth was granted to a large group of settlers, with whom the town was erected. Falmouth would lose a school to fire in 1895, a bridge to fire in 1892 and demolish a century old church in 1905. Falmouth's main industry is agriculture. Halifax is just 67.4 km (41.9 mi.) south of Falmouth, following Highway 101.

Falmouth has the Sainte Famille Wines vineyard, which includes tours, gifts, local art and of course, wine tastings. The Avon Valley Golf and Country Club in Falmouth is a picturesque 18-hole course, with rolling hills and challenging greens, is a must for golf enthusiasts. Falmouth also features the Avon Valley Greenhouses, which features a vast array of colourful, vibrant flora. Visitors can also visit an 18th century Acadian graveyard.
