Kingsport is positioned above the entrance to the Habitant River, on the western shores of the beautiful Minas Basin. The town name comes from the simple fact that Kingsport is a member of Kings County, and also has a port. Two other town names that existed before Kingsport, were Oak Point and Indian Point. The community was first settled in the late 1700s. A railway opened at Kingsport in 1890, providing an economic boost at the time. Today, agriculture and fishing are two primary industries. Kingsport is situated a total driving distance of 18.7 km (11.6 mi.) northeast of Kentville.

Kingsport is home to the Kingsport Park, which features a tranquil picnic area, walking trails and a beach. Blomidon Provincial Park, just outside Kingsport, is a beautiful park, offering fabulous, trails. As well, nearby Wolfville is home to art galleries, theatres, fine dining, shopping and more. Enjoy fishing, swimming, golfing, bicycling, animal watching and horseback riding in and around Kingsport. In winter months, either cross-country ski or venture minutes away to Martock for some downhill skiing.
