West Advocate is a part of Cumberland County, located on Advocate Harbour in northern Nova Scotia. The precise origins of the title West Advocate are not completely known, however at one time it is believed the area was known simply as Advocat. Original settlers to the area were Loyalists of the American Revolution. In the 1800s, West Advocate was a thriving shipbuilding community, and produced such ships as barques, brigs and schooners. West Advocate is positioned 146 km (90.7 mi.) west of Truro, traveling on the picturesque Glooscap Trail.

West Advocate is home to the glorious Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, which features monstrous 185 m (600 ft.) cliffs, enormous tides, and 4200-hectares of beautiful, naturally preserved forest. This breath-taking park hugs the coastline, boasting a total of 29 km (18 mi.) of the Bay of Fundy coast. Visitors to West Advocate can discover old forests, go kayaking, search for rocks, paraglide, discover rare plant-life, eat local seafood, absorb the epic scenery and hike, walk or bike down multiple trails of differing difficulty and length.
