D'Escousse is a small town located in Richmond County, on the northeast corner of Isle Madame, a small island tucked in the southern underbelly of Cape Breton Island. D'Escousse is a 119 km (73.9 mi.) southwest of Sydney, Nova Scotia. D'Escousse was founded in the 1700s by settlers looking for an adequate fishing area. In 1845, D'Escousse built its first church, which is renowned in D'Escousse for being one of its finer heritage buildings. D'Escousse is home to the D'Escousse Harbour, which at one time possessed ships that would enter via Grandique Ferry and Lennox Passage. Silver Donald Cameron, a successful Canadian writer, resides in D'Escousse.

D'Escousse is proud to offer tourists and locals alike, the Lennox Passage Provincial Park, which includes a saltwater beach, a beautiful, wooded area for picnics among other things, and a nearby lighthouse.
