Gaetz Brook is a member of Halifax County, on the south eastern shores of Chezzetcook Lake. Gaetz Brook takes its name from Joseph G. Gaetz, after he and his family received a grant of 100 acres where Gaetz Brook now sits. Gaetz Brook is a small community; it wasn't settled until the beginning of the twentieth century. As well, Henry and John Gaetz received a total of 150 acres at Gaetz Brook in 1914, and constructed the first inn of the village. Gaetz Brook is situated 39.5 km (24.5 mi.) northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia's capital city.

Gaetz Brook is a prime location to relax at the lake, make sandcastles at the beach, go for a dip in the lake or hike down one or more of the many calming wilderness trails. Visitors can also go kayaking, canoeing, bird-watching, travel just minutes down the road to the longest sandy beach in the province, go fishing, golf at the nearby golf courses, visit a railway museum and a heritage village or travel a short distance to the capital city where possibilities are nearly endless.

Gaetz Brook accommodations include lakeside bed and breakfasts.
