The settlement of Goffs, a small community located in Halifax County, received its peculiar name from the last name of a family of early settlers. The first settlers to Goffs came in 1821, after receiving grants, but the Goff family would come decades later. William Goff came to the land in 1846 to be precise, after receiving a grant and Henry Goff followed thirteen years later after also receiving a grant; their grants were 100-acres each. The main source of income at Goffs is agriculture. Goffs is positioned just 34.8 km (21.6 mi.) north of Halifax, directly beside the Halifax International Airport.

Goffs is home to the Airlane Golf Club, a lush, green course that features waterways, wildlife, tree-lined fairways and nine well-maintained holes. Goffs is close to nearly everything that you could ever need, including the historic downtown Halifax, a casino, a maritime museum, an aviation museum, white water rafting, art galleries, a race track, parks, Peggys Cove and so much more.

Goffs accommodations include hotels.
