Little River is a small community located on Cape Breton Island, in the beautiful county of Victoria. Little River is located on the World Famous Cabot Trail, at the north eastern shoreline of Cape Breton Island. Little River was settled throughout the 1800s, as Roderick Grant arrived on a grant in 1833, Kenneth McAulay arrived on a grant in 1840 and then Donald McDonald received one in 1867. Little River is a proud, storied fishing community. Sydney is located 103 km (64 mi.) southeast of Little River.

Little River is the proud home of The Little River Fisheries and Heritage Museum, which glorifies the local history of the fishing industry in Little River and area. Nearby hiking trails offer pristine views and fresh ocean air. Swimming, canoeing and kayaking in the ocean are all options at Little River. The Highlands are just up the Cabot Trail, which in itself is an attraction, for its glorious views of the coastline, the ocean, the cliffs and the sky. Baddeck is a short drive south, and includes the home and gravesite of Alexander Graham Bell.
