Margaree Valley is a small community located just to the north of the Cabot Trail, and is a member of Inverness County on Cape Breton Island. Previous names of Margaree Valley include Middle Section and Frizzleton, in honour of James Frizzle, a former post master and settler to the land. The first school in Margaree Valley was constructed in 1884, which was followed by another in 1922. The Margaree Baptist church would go on to purchase a former Frizzleton school in 1959, two years later, Frizzleton became Margaree Valley. Margaree Valley is positioned 127 km (78.9 mi.) northwest of Sydney.

Margaree Valley is home to vast amounts of fishing, surrounded by striking natural beauty, such as forests, mountains, an epic valley and rivers. Visitors can enjoy walking and hiking trails, listening to live concerts, a historic Fish Hatchery, a renowned pottery gallery, fine dining, gorgeous heritage buildings, salmon and trout fly-fishing, nearby whale-watching and horseback riding. Ski Margaree Valley, including such trails as the Badlands, a 21 km (12.5 mi.) trail, North Face, a 14 km (8.5 mi.) trail, and the MacKenzie Bowl, a 7 km (4 mi.) trail.
