Port William is a member of Kings County, positioned along the Cornwallis River near the Minas Basin, just east of Kentville. Port William was founded in 1760, but was not incorporated until 1951. Port William was named after a past lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia, Sir William Fenwick Williams. Port William has been a productive member of the lumber and agriculture industries. In 1938, five hundred thousand barrels of apples were shipped to Europe from Port William. Port William is 95 km (59 mi.) northwest of Halifax, travelling on Highway 101.

Port William is a beautiful, scenic community with lots to offer, including much hospitality. The Fox Hill Farm is a great place to spend the afternoon, and features tours, samples, insight into the making of their products and more. Various annual festivals, such as the Apple Blossom Festival, celebrate the history and culture of Port William and area. Visit a nearby zoo, a drive in theatre and various farms and markets.
