Pubnico, a historic little Acadian community, is located in Yarmouth County. Back in 1653, Pubnico founder, Philippe Mius d'Entrmont, came across the land that is now known as Pubnico, in turn making it the oldest community in North America still inhabited mostly by Acadians. Former and merged community names are Pubnico Harbour and Pubnico Head. Pubnico is located near the southwest tip of Nova Scotia, just 40.1 km (24.9 mi.) from Yarmouth.

Today, Pubnico is a major fishing community, home to over a dozen fish processing companies. Of the processing plants, species include haddock, redfish, cod, lobster, herring and scallops.

Pubnico offers the Le Village Historique Acadien, which features the old ways of the Acadian people, their architecture, a cemetery, a blacksmith shop and an authentic 19th century lighthouse. Visitors can enjoy 18-hole golf at the West Pubnico Golf and Country Club, dine at the seafood market or simply take back the scenery.
