West Berlin belongs to Queens County, on the southern shores of Nova Scotia's mainland. West Berlin was most likely named after the widely-known German city of the same name by German settlers in the late 1800s. Prior to West Berlin, the community was also known as Blueberry. The most prominent industry in West Berlin is fishing. West Berlin is a short, scenic 15.1 km (9.4 mi.) shoreline drive from Liverpool.

West Berlin is positioned in the midst of beautiful sandy beaches, glorious views of the ocean, the shoreline and magnificent sunrises. Numerous activities in and around West Berlin include swimming in the ocean, beachcombing, bicycling, spotting all kinds of wildlife, sailing, fishing, surfing, golfing and so much more. As well, Lunenburg is just a short drive north, offering insight into the history of Nova Scotia via museums and the renowned World Heritage Site that draws tourists year round.

West Berlin accommodations include cottages with wonderful views of the ocean.
