Kempt Shore is a member of Hants County, on the eastern entrance of the Avon River which funnels into the beautiful Minas Basin. The land at Kempt Shore was first granted in 1783 to William Hutchinson; the grant was 2000 acres. Kempt Shore takes its name from Sir James Kempt, a past Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia.
