Dundee is a member of Richmond County, located on the south western shores of the Bras d'Or Lake. Dundee was first known as Black River, but then the town name was changed to Dundee, in honour of a Scottish city of the same name. Dundee was founded in the 1800s after grants were given to Aaron Asplett and John Smith in 1818 and 1819, respectively. The first major industry in Dundee was forestry, which subsided into the 1900s, and as a result, Dundee shrunk slowly but surely in population. Dundee is 115 km (71.5 mi.) southwest of Sydney, traveling on Highway 4 along the shores of Bras d'Or Lake.

Dundee is home to the Dundee Beach, which is located on the Bras d'Or Lake, featuring a sandy beach, a boat launch and picnic areas. Dundee also features a beautiful lakeside 18-hole championship golf resort that offers a driving range, club rentals, sheltered stalls, snacks and more. As well, tennis courts, volleyball courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a marina and numerous other advantages are available at Dundee. Dundee is home to rich forests, glorious scenery and a hospitable nature.

Dundee accommodations include a picturesque resort.
