Economy, located on the north shore of Minas Basin/Cobequid Bay, is a part of Colchester County. The name, Economy, comes from the Acadian term L'Économie, which was adapted from the Mi'kmaq word, kenomee, meaning "a place of land jutting into the sea."

During the 1800s, Economy was a shipbuilding town, but today Economy is known for producing timber, firewood, wild low bush blueberries, weir traps, soft-shelled clams and fish.

Sight-see the wilderness around Economy, such as waterfalls, the Bay of Fundy and the vast number of trails. Enjoy hiking Kenomee Trail, or the beautiful Cobequid Escarpment Trail which leads to Economy River, or the Thomas' Cove Coastal Reserve. Also, visit the Cobequid Interpretation Centre for historical facts and information about the Economy area. Economy is located 148 km (92 mi.) north of Halifax.

Economy accommodations include bed and breakfasts.
