Glen Haven is a small community that can be found on the north eastern shores of St. Margaret's Bay, and is situated within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Halifax can be reached on Highway 3, traveling east for 36.2 km (22.5 mi.). Glen Haven was formed when in 1752 the Honourable Benjamin Green received a 50-acre grant of the land. In 1785, a group of French settlers received a 650-acre grant at Glen Haven. Most residents today must venture to Halifax for employment. Glen Haven is a humble fishing community, also reliant on tourism and agriculture.

Glen Haven is situated along the Lighthouse Route, which is a renowned stretch of road that extends along the southern shore. Glen Haven has a nearby Lighthouse, erected on the rocky ocean shore. Sandy and rocky beaches are scattered along the coast, making swimming in the ocean lots of fun. Nearby exists a sailing club, beautiful gardens, parks, trails and lots of history.
