Mader's Cove is positioned on the south western shores of the scenic Mahone Bay, as part of Lunenburg County. Mader's Cove was settled in the mid-1700s by Montbeliardians. In the 1880s, a railway was built, passing through Mader's Cove that led to Lunenburg. Mader's Cove was named after Bernard Mader, a German settler to who arrived with his family sometime in the 1800s. A main industry in Mader's Cove is fishing. Mader's Cove is situated a driving distance of 43.3 km (26.9 mi.) northeast of Lunenburg.

Mader's Cove is a seaside community, with beautiful shorelines, sandy beaches, glorious sunrises, kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, beautiful hiking and biking trails and much more. The Mahone Bay Classis Boat Festival runs through Mader's Cove every summer as well, and features numerous types of beautiful boats and an abundant amount of live musical acts.
