Margaretsville is located in beautiful Annapolis County, located in the Bay of Fundy. Margaretsville was named by Honourable Brenton Halliburton, 8th Chief Justice of Nova Scotia, in honour of his wife, Margaret Inglis. In 1802, The Halliburtons built their summer home in the area. During WWI, Margaretsville was, per capita, the second most enlisted town in Canada, with 10% of its population signed up for war. Once a busy port, today Margaretsville cites tourism as its main source of income.

Margaretsville is home to the Margaretsville lighthouse, which dates back to 1859, and is believed to have been on a 5 cent stamp in 1967. Red cliffs tower over the Bay of Fundy, offering a scenic view of the ocean. A local art gallery offers the artwork of local talents, and the local folk music scene is considered to be vibrant. Willett Park has a picnic area, and is a lovely place to spend the day. Margaretsville is situated 153 km (95 mi.) northwest of Halifax.

Margaretsville accommodations include bed and breakfasts and cottages.
