Meat Cove, located in Inverness County, is not easily accessible, as it is situated at the opposing side of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, on the north-most coast of Nova Scotia. Meat Cove is 210 km (130.5 mi.) northwest of Sydney. It's believed the name, Meat Cove, derived from original settlers using the land for hunting moose. Since Meat Cove is the most northern-lived Nova Scotia town, it is often used as a starting point for adventure tourists looking to hike either Grassy Point or the much longer (3 or 4 days) journey to Polletts Cove. Meat Cove is a rural fishing community.

Meat Cove offers breath-taking scenery of the ocean, the coastline, a green and hilly landscape and vast skies. Kayak rentals are available at the Meat Cove Campground or Meat Cove Enterprises. Meat Cove is near Cabot Trail, which winds through the beautiful Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

Meat Cove accommodations include an ocean-side campground and lodges.
