North Brookfield is a small community located in Queens County, along Highway 208 minutes east of the Kejimkujik National Park. South Brookfield was founded in the early 1800s, soon after that, North Brookfield was formed. The town name of Brookfield, referring to both North and South Brookfield, is a descriptive one. When English settlers arrived on the land here, they noticed a brook in a large field and the title was coined. The most successful industries in North Brookfield are agricultural based. North Brookfield is situated just 1.7 km (1.1 mi.) from South Brookfield and 34.2 km (21.3 mi.) east of the Kejimkujik National Park.

North Brookfield is home to heritage buildings, history, numerous cemeteries, genealogy information on specific families of the area, a shop that exhibits arts and crafts from local artists and a plethora of pretty sights and wildlife. As aforementioned, the Kejimkujik National Park is very close to North Brookfield and is a great place to spend the day or longer. The National Park offers a nearly endless amount of fun outdoor activities, whether on the water fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing and swimming or, in the woods hiking trails and other various activities are available.
