Western Shore is positioned on the west coast of Mahone Bay. It is a fair assessment to claim that the town name is a descriptive one. Western shore is also a member of the County of Lunenburg. As well, the settlement of Western Shore began in the late 1700s. Industries in Western Shore have included shipbuilding, fishing and agriculture. Western Shore is situated approximately 75.5 km (46.9 mi.) west of Halifax, the provincial capital.
