Arichat is located in Richmond County, located on Highway 206 in southern Cape Breton Island. Arichat is 123 km (76.4mi.) south west of Sydney. Arichat is one of the oldest communities in all Nova Scotia, as settlers came to the land in the early 1700s. Established in 1713, Arichat saw rapid economic growth and in 1801, Arichat was an international trading port.

Arichat, located in the midst of the Isle Madame, is home to some of the prettiest scenery along the Fleur-de-Lis trail and offers a rocky coastline, inlets, coves and the islands of Arichat Harbour. Arichat is a great place to sight see, hike trails, go sailing, canoeing or kayaking. Arichat is home to beautiful beaches and the LeNoir Forge Museum, a restored 18th century French stone blacksmith shop, which is located on the glorious Arichat waterfront.

Arichat accommodations include inns and cottages.
