Blandford is located in the Margaret's Bay, Peggy's Cove region, and is a member of Lunenburg County. Blandford is situated alongside the glorious Lighthouse Route. Around 1750, the first recorded settlers came to Blandford and were of Irish descent. Eventually, in 1807, and after the land had passed through many hands, a group of German settlers bought the land and separated it into sections. Two churches, the Saint Barnabas Church and the Baptist Church were built in 1867 and 1893, respectively. Blandford is 74.7 km (46.2 mi.) east of Halifax.
The nearby Bayswater Beach is an open, sandy beach with picnic areas and fire grills for barbequing. Visitors to the Blandford area can also enjoy kayaking in the picturesque bay and cycling in scenic trails. The Blandford and area Historical Society presents an annual exhibit featuring the history of Blandford and Lunenburg County. The Mahone Bay Wooden Boat Festival and Point Bickton Lighthouse are memorable nearby attractions.
Blandford accommodations include bed and breakfasts and inns.
