The small community of Chimney Corner is part of Inverness County on the vastly beautiful Cape Breton Island along the Ceilidh Trail. Chimney Corner was named after a rock near the town that actually looks similar to a chimney. Scottish settler, Hector MacKay, arrived at the shores of Chimney Corner in 1811, and received a warrant for the land years later in 1815. Main industries in Chimney Corner are farming, fishing and coal. Chimney Corner is situated on the west coast of Cape Breton Island, 149 km (92.6 mi.) northwest of Sydney.
