Northwest Cove is a member of Lunenburg County, on the western shores of the St. Margaret's Bay. Northwest Cove is situated a total of 62.1 km (38.6 mi.) southwest of Halifax, traveling on Highway 103. Early known settlers to the Northwest Cove area are Thomas James, William Cochrane and James Croucher, who lived at Northwest Cove in 1832. The two major industries in Northwest Cove are fishing and agriculture.

Northwest Cove is home to the ocean, and is a destination on the pretty Lighthouse Route. The Northwest Cove Memorial pays tribute to a soldier who died at Northwest Cove in 1943, after his aircraft crashed. Beautiful sand beaches are located all along the shoreline, including a popular beach in Bayswater, just down the road. Rent a canoe, kayak or bicycle and experience the great outdoors around Northwest Cove. Hike down the beautiful Aspotogan Trail, beachcomb, picnic at the park, or watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee early in the morning.
